Emma Clarke, an announcer on the London Underground, had been working for eight years for the London Underground, and then got the sack for publicly criticising the company. Her revenge has been highly entertaining.
Clarke was sacked after she made scathing comments about London Underground to the press. When her employer then rebuked her, Clarke made things worse by ridiculing London Underground openly on her own website.
The news attracted the attention of the press and now there’s even a Facebook group demanding dear Emma gets reinstated.
But it’s more likely she will get different job offers, after her action following her sacking. Clarke, a voiceover artist, recorded a few messages in her ‘underground voice’. Poking fun at commuters…
She recorded the spoofs in the same characteristically officious voice that the company employs to ‘speak’ to passengers. She was extremely rude at peeping toms, Soduku puzzlers, and the proverbial ‘grey mouse’.
"Would the passenger in the red shirt pretending to read the paper but who is actually staring at that woman’s chest please stop. You are not fooling anyone, you filthy pervert," sounds one message.
And another one took the mickey out of Sudokus puzzlers; "Would passengers filling in answers on their Sudokus please accept that they are just crosswords for the unimaginative and are not in any way more impressive just because they contain numbers."
And; "Here we are crammed again into a sweaty Tube carriage … If you’re female smile at the bloke next to you and make his day. He’s probably not had sex for months."
Clarke, who is 36, said she recorded messages on her private website "for a laugh." But her employer, Tube operator Transport for London has really taken offense.
Her boss had the official press spokesman tell the local newspaper The Evening Standard that "London Underground is sorry to have to announce that further contracts for Miss Clarke are experiencing severe delays."
