he lawyers’ movement has entered a very critical phase where a single plot can make the long march a dangerous agitation movement as lawyers, civil society and political workers are being mobilised to rush to Islamabad on June 12 in large numbers.
The masses fear eruption of violence during the mass lawyers’ long march as there are widespread speculations that conspiracies are being hatched by some anti-state elements to fail the legal fraternity movement, reveals a survey by The Post.
It transpires that lawyers are excited, politically active, enthusiastic and passionate about the ‘final episode’ of their movement, especially in the wake of active support by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and other APDM political parties.
Talking to The Post, Justice (r) Malik Saeed Hussain said the lawyers’ leadership should be extra-vigilant and careful these days as a single mistake could jeopardise their dreams and it would also hit the democracy in the country hard. He warned that conspiracies were being hatched by some groups against the reinstatement of judges and lawyers’ movement. He said judges would be reinstated if the democracy remained intact in the country.
Advocate Khurrum Latif Khosa told The Post the long march would be safe as long as lawyers remained on highways from Multan to Lahore but after that it would enter a very dangerous phase when thousands of lawyers would take to streets in Islamabad. He said that security agencies would make every attempt to halt the long march and lawyers would resist.
