A girl’s family slit her throat and dumped her to die in a jungle and then caught hold of the boy friend of the girl and strangulated him to death in a gory incident in Lucknow, India on 3rd June’08.
Both the lovers were adult and belonged to the well to do Yadav families. The murders were the result of what is described as ‘Honor Killing’ in local culture of Uttar Pradesh where love affairs are treated as shameful.
All the four murderers were the family members, being the father, the uncle and two brothers of the girl and are absconding after the incident as per Police Superintendent of the district. These murders followed a murder, a day earlier of a 21 year old girl at Hardoi, also in Uttar Pradesh, on a similar ground of having affairs with a local trader.
