Jammu, February 13 (Scoop News) – Emphasizing strict adherence to guidelines of various state and centrally sponsored schemes, Minister for Social welfare, Ms Sakina Itoo today exhorted upon the officers to effectively implement Take Home Ration scheme in all the 28000 Anganwari Centres (AWCs) of the state.
The Minister was speaking in a daylong conference convened to get feedback of various social welfare schemes besides working out strategies for further enhancing the benefits to the people.
Child Development Programme Officers, District Social Welfare Officers and Nodal Officers of the department attended the conference.
Threadbare discussion was held on various issues pertaining to the working of the department. The schemes like SABLA, IGMSY and Take Home Ration were deliberated upon in detail.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the status of nutrition distribution, the Minister suggested certain changes in the present system for better management of this vital part of the programme. She directed the officers to further streamline the functioning of their respective works for effective implementation of programmes of the department. She asked the officers to further gear up their men and machinery to extend optimum benefits of various schemes to downtrodden people. “Serving the poor and needy should be the prime concern of every officer as besides being officials they have social obligations as well”, she added.
Sakina reiterated her commitment towards serving the State with sincerity and enthusiasm to minimize difficulties of old aged, physically challenged people living below poverty line and the women in distress. She further assured that her Ministry will encourage all those who are serving the society selflessly and co-operating with State Government in mitigating the sufferings of the people.
Ms. Sakina instructed the Directors of the department to plan a strategy for holding review meetings on regular basis which is imperative for effective implementation of programmes. She asked the field functionaries to go for frequent field visits to ensure that the schemes are reaching to the deserving sections of the society. She warned that any officer or official found negligent in his duties will have to face stern action.
The officers highlighted various issues creating hurdles in smooth implementation of schemes of the department and sought redressal of the same. In this regard, the Minister asked them to formulate a report of all the impediments they are facing in their functioning and submit to the concerned Director.
