Jammu,March 01 (Scoop News) – Minister of State for Power, Shabir Ahmad Khan in reply to a question by Narboo Gialchan informed the House that the consumers of Leh district are being charged lowest tariff slab during the period they receive lesser number of electricity hours.
He said in order to redress the grievances of the consumers of the Leh district with regard to electricity fee, the department has started the process of metering in the district. He said in spite of high cost of generation in the region, the revenue realized per domestic consumer per month up to ending January 2012 for the year 2011-2012 was Rs. 81.06 against Rs. 221.6 for other divisions of EM&RE wing Kashmir (excluding Leh and Kargil divisions).
The Minister said that the department has made its endeavor to provide electricity to Leh district at par with the rest of the state.
