Udhampur, 24 March (Scoop News) -Lt Gen Jasbir Singh, AVSM, VSM, today assumed the coveted appointment of the Chief of Staff of the Udhampur located Northern Command Headquarters in J&K
According to defence spokesperson that . Lieutenant General Jasbir Singh, AVSM, VSM, an alumnus of National Defence Academy was commissioned into the DOGRA Regiment on 31 Mar 1972. A Graduate of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, he has held various staff and command appointments.
Lt Gen Jasbir has attended the prestigious Higher Command and NDC Courses. His key command assignments are that of an Infantry Battalion in counter insurgency environment in J&K, an Infantry Brigade in active operations in India’s Western Theatre of Operations and an Infantry Division in Counter Insurgency/Counter Terrorism environment in J&K for which he was awarded the prestigious VSM and AVSM. He has also been Colonel Administration of an Infantry Division and Brigadier General Staff of a Corps deployed in Super High Altitude Terrain. He has also been the Defence Attache in Yangon, Myanmar for three years.
He assumes this appointment at Northern Command after having relinquished the distinguished post of Director General of Infantry at the Army HQ in Delhi. As DG Infantry he gave an impetus to the modernisation of Infantry especially the implementation of the F-INSAS project (Future Infantry Soldier as a Weapon System).
He holds the coveted appointment of the Colonel of the Dogra Regiment and Dogra Scouts and heads the Fraternity of the distinguished Dogra’s as their Colonel Commandant.
