South Plains Fair, Lubbock Texas; the Fairpark Colliseum was host to a timeline of Rock and Roll. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the South Plains Fair concert practices, each year around the middle or last of September the city of Lubbock Texas has this big county fair with all the trimmings including listener appreciation concerts from most of it’s radio stations. Since, so many Lubbock stations offer free tickets for concerts each year; it gives Lubbock listeners a chance to live out and listen to a Rock and Roll timeline. 98 KOOL hosted Grand Funk Railroad, a rock band from the sixties and seventies. This was back in the days when listening to Rock was dirty business, literally, concert goers got dirty-mosh pit dancing in the mud in a field at Woodstock. Rock 101.1 KONE hosted , Loverboy the eighties band of MTV fame. It was said that these were the days when"video killed the radio star" at least that’s what the Buggles said. But wait "Great Scott’s" I’ve got to get my DeLorean up to eighty-eight miles an hour and get back in time for Halestorm hosted by 94.5 KFMX; these three bands are actually enough to keep the G.W. Bush and R. Perry followers running in the opposite direction, and just go to show you that Texas isn’t all about cattle, Cadilacs, and cowboy boots and not Lubbock, especially! Lzzy Hale of Halestorm gave Lubbock credit for helping to make the band a success four times during the performance. And after the concert, your’s truly heard comments like awesome concert, can’t wait till their new album (which Halestorm is about to hit the studio for; they announced it-guess where? In Lubbock, Texas) More importantly; I didn’t hear a single Ya’ll in the bunch.
Update-I noticed that one of my links didn’t work; please try new Grand Funk Railroad video link instead. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for reading.
