From the beginning of time southern rap music has been ridiculed and scrutinized heavily for it’s more melodic compositions and distinct vernacular and dialect by all critics in the hip hop community. Louisiana rap artists had to dive into a more lyrical approach to garner fans from other regions. Today’s rap /hip hop artist has to entertain and well as shock you with creative and controversial metaphors and wordplay. Underground rappers are stuck in a world of trying to find a sound that trumps the norm and makes him or her stand out as unique but also be relative to people in everyday urban society. Louisiana Rappers Luko and Phillee Haze take the eclectic approach by creating a clear vivid picture of the modern Southern urban hippy. It’s a sound that consist of laid back beats and intricate creative yet simplistic poetry that reminds you of the days when Hip Hop was innocent and creativity flourished. Luko and Phillee Haze both Minden, Louisiana (Greater Shreveport Area) natives bring you their version of Southern Living with their latest single titled “318liens”. This latest song is dedicated to the people that stand out and never deny being slightly or totally different from the norm musically and socially. As Luko puts it:
To be different and not go with the flow you’re considered an “Alien” in your own planet which puts the spotlight and attention on everything you do whether it’s good or bad. It is up to you to find positive ways to embrace your imperfections and abnormalities to your advantage in life no matter what you do. Embrace being an “Alien” it’s who you are. FSM 2015
