Lynn Laverty Elsenhans will become the chief executive officer and president of Sunoco starting August 8 the company said on Wednesday.
Lynn Laverty Elsenhans will take over from retiring President and CEO John Drosdick. Drosdick will stay onboard at Sunoco until the end of 2008 to help with Elsenhans’ and the company’s transition.
Lynn Laverty Elsenhans, 52, previously worked as the executive vice president of global manufacturing at Shell Downstream, Inc. where she managed 40 plants and over 17,000 employees. She has degrees in business management from Rice University and Harvard University. She will also serve as a member of the board of directors at Sunoco.
