Kathmandu, May 23 2009: With political chaos going on, on Saturday Madhav Kumar Nepal (MKN) was appointed the second Prime Minister (PM) of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. MKN was made PM by majority of the parliament session where almost all the parties supported him except for the Unified CPN (Maoist) and their supporters. The Maoist boycotted the proposal and threatened to start street struggle, if there voices were not addressed. Currently the Maoist acquires 238 seats out of the 601 seats where they accused the appointment of new PM to be completely un-ethical and out of people’s revolution mandate. Speaking at the Beginning of the parliamentary session, the Maoist leaders accused the political parties from diverting from the people’s mandate and hence it would not only divert the essence of people’s voice but would not give proper directions to making of new constitution process. 21 political parties including Nepali Congress, Madhesi People´s Rights Forum and Tarai-Madhes Democratic Party, Sadbhawana Party and CPN-ML supported MKN’s candidacy where the proposal was filed by Girija Prasad Koirala, President of Nepali Congress. Previously, Maoist led government was deprived due to the controversial Chief of Army Staff(CoAS) issue where the party forceful tried to sack the CoAS which created a stir in the political scenario of Nepal. The then PM Pupsa Kamal Dahal resigned from his post on May 4, 2009 reasoning international pressure and interference in the countries internal matter. By Shreedeep Rayamajhi
