Storytelling is more thrilling than story hearing. It seems that people come with storytelling power naturally. But this thought is not always correct. Storytelling is not so simple a matter. One must pay attention and learn how to read people, lure them through a story. A story teller’s main priority is the audience. A storyteller first needs to give people what they want to hear.
There are some major things that a good storyteller should look at carefully. While telling a story, the first thing a storyteller tries to do is bring the story to the audience as if it has never been told before, as if this is its first time coming out to meet the world. One other important thing is to understand audience, what type of human being they are. They could be smiling or sharp or witty. According to that pattern, the storyteller should start a preferable type of story. A storyteller takes on a big responsibility in relaying a story, to bring a past incident to life and in living color. In this way, the story itself is an entity of its own.
A storyteller might tell his family’s history, seek out and retain his family’s oral history. Through stories, history of a family could be passing over generation to generation for thousand of years. And for that a good storyteller is very necessary.
