Sri Lankan Cricket Captain Mahela Jayawardene and the middle order batsman Thilan Samaraweera broken the fifty two year old record for fourth wicket partnership in a Test Match at their first Test Match against Pakistan to day in Karachchi.The Pair put on 437 run partnership for the fourth wicket by beating previous record of 411 runs by Peter May and Sir Colin Cowdrey of England set in 1957 against the West Indies at Edgbaston.
Earlier the two Sri Lankan batsman broken the highest fourth wicket partnership of 298 set in Karachchi National Cricket Stadium which they are playing now.The World Record Breaking Partnership came in 450 minutes and they spared 643 balls to reaching it.Mahela contributed 240 runs for the partnership and scored his fifth Double Centuary in Test Cricket and his first at a Foriegn Soil.Thilan contributed 231 runs for the partnership.
With the help of this duo Sri Lanka declared their first innings total as 644 runs for the loss of 6 wickets and at the close of the second day ‘s play pakistani score board read as 44 runs for the loss of 1 wicket.
