The ratio of those that have taken the poll has a larger number that say Iraq is not worth it versus the smaller ration that does support the war. In the latest poll by CBS News, it reveals that while 29 percent of Americans support Bush and his defense of the war in Iraq. However, it is a larger number with those who are frustrated with the war and feel that is not worth it.
It was very divisive back in August of 2003 as the overthrow of Saddam Hussein had an insurgency following after. After the insurgency, there was the present of Al-Qaeda. Since 2006, one out of four Americans felt the war was worth it. Today, there is much strong separation amongst partisan lines.
The Republicans have drawn their line and the Democrats have drawn their line.
Of the Republicans, an overwhelming 62 percent said that the war was worth it. A fraction of Democrats and Independents have felt the same thing.
That would mean that an overwhelming 75 percent of Independents, an overwhelming 90 percent of Democrats, and a fractional 38 percent of Republicans feel that Iraq is not worth it. These are the results today according to the CBS News poll. The results stayed somewhat the same since 2006.
However, since 2006, Republican support for the war had risen upwards.
Iraq has been a major platform in the US presidential races. In the case of GOP nominee Senator John McCain, Iraq has been his main platform.
