Majority of Kashmiri people are nationalist in Kashmir: Sofi Yousuf

Jammu, August 02 (Scoop News) – BJP State Vice-President Sofi Yousuf said on Monday that baring a handful of miscreants who are responsible for present turmoil in the valley, majority of Kashmiri people are nationalist  and desire development with peace there.

 Addressing a press conference in Jammu today Sofi Yousuf said that right from 1947 there have been some elements in the Kashmir valley working at the dictates of their masters across the border and provoking the people to indulge in anti-national activities. He said during the last 20 years of militancy, thousands of innocent civilians and security personnel have lost their lives to defeat the nefarious designs of separating the state from India. No power on the earth can succeed in this evil design, and it was, it is and shall remain an integral part of the India

Pointing to the recent incidents of stone pelting, Sofi said that the innocent youth of the Kashmir is being misguided and exploited by the separatists and anti-national elements to malign the image of security forces which have been rendering splendid services.

Sofi further said that the anti-national elements have been successful in carrying on their activities due to weak- kneed and appeasement policies of the present NC-Congress coalition. Instead of taking firm action against anti-national elements, the helpless Chief Minister is sometimes appealing to youth, to mothers and some time to political parties for restoration of peace. The role of the coalition partner of the NC, the Congress, has remained very unfortunate and it has preferred to stick to chair at the cost of the national interests in the state. Inorder to regain the faith of the masses and display its nationalist character, the Congress should part away with the NC.

Sofi said the voice of Nationalistic forces should be projected properly and they be strengthened. Continuation of talks with Pakistan even when it is supporting terrorism and indulging in infiltration and firing on borders can not bear any fruits and talks should be indefinitely suspended till Pakistan mends its attitude towards India.

He appealed to the MLAs of valley, irrespective of their political affiliations, to go to the people of their respective constituencies and educate them about the grave consequences of the present turmoil and  work for the development of their constituencies.

State Vice-President Chander Prakash Ganga, Secretaries Kashmir province Nazir Ahmed and Sheikh Abdul Rashid, BJYM President Ashiq Dar and BJP Muslim Morcha leader Latif Ahmed Khan were also present in Press conference.
