Malaysian developers seek foreign investment

Property developers in Malaysia have announced that their number one priority is to attract foreign investment into the country.

At The Star Property and Home Fair Penang 2008, Malaysian developers were in agreement that more must be done to bring foreign investment into the country’s housing market.

Among other things, developers in the country will be looking to improve the transparency of the buying process and promote Malaysia’s ‘unique charms’.

Dr Teoh Poh Huat, director of the estate agent Henry Butcher Penang, told the Malaysia Star: "Making Malaysia a destination of choice for property investment and a second home is now the sine qua non (essential).

"As this sector of the market is relatively less understood, it is imperative to conduct research to understand … the demographic … of the foreign market on the country’s real estate."

According to propertyshowrooms.com, Malaysia is currently in the early stages of a "promising growth spurt", and is backed by a strong economic climate and government policies to encourage investment.
