Vejalpur police on Monday arrested a man accused of raping his daughter for 20 days in February this year. The victim, a 25-year-old woman, was too frightened to inform other relatives. The case came to light when her mother saw injury marks on the victim’s private parts.
According to Vejalpur police officials, when Ramilaben, a resident of Vejalpur went out of city to attend a social function on February 8 earlier this year, she left behind her 25-year-old elder daughter to look after her husband Mahendra alias Bhagat, 50.
"When his wife left, Mahendra started beating their daughter and assaulting her. He then made her captive and raped her repeatedly. When she tried to protest against the brutal act and contact other relatives, he threatened her and told her that he was doing it to achieve a supernatural feat and even wanted her to commit to witchcraft," said a Vejalpur police station.
The matter did not surface until Ramilaben saw the marks of brutality on her daughter’s body on May 15. When she inquired about it, the girl could not answer and fainted following which she was hospitalized. She later told her mother about what had happened when she was out of town three months back.
