After Indira Nooyi, the Chairperson of the Pepsico, who purchased a flat in the Chennai Boes Garden at a cost of Rs 7 crore, it is now the turn of Director Mani Ratnam to buy a new flat at a cost of Rs 4 crore.
The PoesGarden area and the neighbouring Venus colony seem to be the most costliest and sought after addresses in the Chennai city.
The latest person to enter the fray was the reputed film director Mani Ratnam, who is believed to have purchased a flat in PoesGarden, for which he paid Rs 4 crore. Mani and his wife Suhasini have taken two flats in a very upmarket apartment block. However,it is believed the real price they might have paid was much more, perhaps running into two digits.
After Indira Nooyi’s Rs 7 crore flat in No.18 Poes Garden, Mani Ratnam’s flat too is being seen as a benchmark for property rates in around the area.
As reported by a realtor, people who have become newly wealthier, are bent upon living in a posh area where actors are also living. The fact that Mani Ratnam is moving to the Boes Garden will bound to raise the value of flats in an upward trend.
However, the old residents of the area are not happy about the trend, because the VIP galore in the area will lead to frequent movement of luxury cars, securities, traffic jam and even enquiries from the police personnel, usually the poor people living in the area becoming hapless victims.
