Manila Ocean Park, New Attraction in Manila

MANILA – Last February, the first marine park in the Philippines opened to the public.  The Php1.2 billion Manila Ocean Park (MOP) is located in Manila Bay behind Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park (known as Luneta).

The Manila Ocean Park is 8,000 square meters big and is bigger compared to the Sentosa Oceanarium in Singapore which is only 6,000 square meters. Manila Ocean Park is also bigger than Hong Kong Ocean Park. Manila Ocean Park is the biggest marine park in Asia.

There is about 300 species or 20,000 marine inhabitants that can be found in the oceanarium.  The Manila Ocean Park is divided into 6 parts called “Agos”, “Bahura”, “Buhay na Karagatan”,  “Pating”, “Ang Kailaliman”, and  “Laot”.

The main feature of the park is the 25-meter walk glass tunnel which enables visitors to have a close encounter with different marine species without getting wet.

Aside from the oceanarium, also located in the marine park are the marine-themed malls and hotel, restaurant, and other stores.

Admission Fee is Php 400 for Adults and Php 350 for Kids. Different rates apply for tour groups. The park is open from 10 am to 9 pm daily.  For further inquiries, you may call + (632) 567-7777.
