Living up to its name, today’s Major League Baseball trading deadline saw some big-name trades all across the board. The most recent involves the Boston Red Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates and Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Red Sox acquired outfielder Jason Bay from the Pirates. The Dodgers acquired outfielder Manny Ramirez from the Red Sox. The Pirates acquired outfielder Brandon Moss and pitcher Craig Hansen from the Red Sox and got infielder Adam LaRoche and pitcher Bryan Morris from the Dodgers.
Manny Ramirez has been with the Red Sox for the past seven season. He is a 12-time All Star, World Series MVP and a member of the 500 home run club.
Jason Bay was the National League Rookie of the Year in 2004. He has a career batting average of .282 and was an All Star in two out of his first four seasons.
Of the other players involved, Andy LaRoche, Bryan Morris, Brandon Moss and Craig Hansen are all young players who have not shown exceptional performance in the Major Leagues.
