Martial law has been declared in Honduras, according to a correspondent currently visiting the country.
The reporter, whose identity is being kept anonymous for his safety, is currently traveling for work and was informed in one of their factories, which was immediately shut down.
He informed me, "Curfew starts at 5:30pm till 7 am. Streets are packed. The ex prez showed up today- current prez is missing- presumed kidnapped."
He added that local mobile phone service has been cut off.
Ousted Ex-President Zelaya returned to the country today, the first return since his exile. The curfew was announced shortly afterwards. Many are predicting that the country may face a civil war.
UPDATE:
Zelaya entered into Honduras around 10:30 this am he was smuggled in by his supporters and is staying in the Brazil Embassy.
Micheletti has asked the army to pursue him and place him in jail. Honduras Government has asked for Brazil to hand him over for "criminal charges".
Zelaya has threatened to overthrow the existing president and take reins of control into the elections.
Martial law is in affect from 4PM to 7am. The airport is currently closed and will not open until the curfew is lifted. There is expected pockets of riots and protests.
