Hip Hop producer Swizz Beatz shot down rumors today that his split with his wife of five years, r&b singer Mashonda, was caused by his friend and collaborator, Alicia Keys.
The rumor mill started when Mashonda and Swizz Beatz split up last year over a purported "other woman." When poeple started saying that woman was Grammy-winning singer Alicia Keys, the gossip-mongers couldn’t keep their hands off. Now, Swizz Beatz has come out publicly to deny any rumors involving Alicia Keys.
"I can no longer ignore the harmful rumors that my friend Alicia Keys is in any way linked to my marital circumstances or to the decision that Mashonda and I have made to separate," Swizz told Us Magazine.
Mashonda became irate when Alicia Keys introduced Swizz Beats as "the man of the hour and my boo" at a birthday party she threw for him.
It appears as though Mashonda and Swizz Beatz tell different sides of the story. Swizz sticks by a nonchalant attitude, promising not to talk about his personal life only to have the subject come out in interviews. Mashonda, according to insiders, believed that Swizz was cheating on her during their relationships and has Alicia Keys in the crosshairs as suspect number one.
