Matthew Hoh, a former Marine and contractor in Iraq, resigned from the US State Department last month, it has been revealed, citing US involvement in Afghanistan as the impetus for his move.
In his resignation letter, Matthew Hoh, 36, writes that "To put simply: I fail to see the value or the worth in continued U.S. casualties or expenditures of resources in support of the Afghan government in what is, truly, a 35-year-old civil war."
