May Day celebrated with slogans

Kathmandu Nepal: May 1 2009 Celebrating the 120th International workers day (May Day), workers and laborers took it to the streets chanting slogans and voicing out their demands for securing their rights and privileges. The May Day took its toll when most of main roads of the Kathmandu were blocked due to the rallies. During the rallies the workers demanded the government to secure the right of the oppressed workers and to secure the labor act in full fledge to make it feasible against the suppressors. The rallies then were gathered in different location according to their affiliation and parties where the Maoist led union gathered a public mass in the open theater in Ratnapark. Moreover, the May Day was celebrated with different programs through out Nepal where most of unions and workers took it to voice their demands on more effective mechanism to curb injustice against laborers and workers.
