The MTA proposes fare increases. The MTA board, politically appointed, argues that the MTA spends much too much money on services. And that in order to keep up with these services they need to increase fares.
All, good and fine. But to my way of thinking the MTA is far behind providing adequate services to the riding public.
I know for a fact, that, on line 720 working people must ridE standing, while the mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villariagosa, rides to work in a lemousine. Yet the mayor is constantly asking the working people to take the bus to work. But Antonio does not heed his own advice. So, where do we draw the line, mayor. I would ask the mayor to set the example, you ride the bus 250 days out of the year, and that will give the best example, but when the mayor of Los Angeles rides in the pricey cars of his rich contributors, what kind of message does that send?
No, Mr. Mayor, I would urge all Angelenos to buy their own cars, although not as pricey as your own. But, if the mayor of LA cannot provide services then the mayor should quit and resign. He needs to allow a competent person run the city. And if Antonio is not up to the task of running the great city of Los Angeles, let him step down. It is no shame to admit failure. There are people who are able to run the city of Los Angeles, that mayor Antonio Villaraigoa is incompetent to run.
It is time for change, mayor. Or at the very least fire William Bratton.
