Presumed GOP nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona did not pull any punches as Senator Barack Obama of Illinois had become the presumed Democratic nominee. It seemed expected that Obama would become the eventual nominee. Without hesitation, McCain went on the offensive against Obama. This time, McCain would make a play on Obama’s message of “change.” McCain would launch himself as the candidate of “right change.”
McCain called himself the candidate of “right change” and Obama the candidate of “wrong change.”
However, Senator Hillary Clinton of New York has not conceded the Democratic nomination to Obama yet. In short, Clinton’s still in the race. The contest between Obama and Clinton had severely divided the Democratic Party. Many of Clinton’s supporters have said that they rather vote McCain rather than Obama.
Recently, the RNC launched a video on YouTube of a clip of Clinton on CNN as she said that she was more experienced and that McCain was more experienced than Obama. Clinton had implied that McCain would be a better president than Obama.
McCain did not hesitate to capitalize on this opportunity. Ever since the DNC compromise in regards to Florida and Michigan on May 31, many supporters of Clinton were bitter and disgruntled. Perhaps, they were frustrated enough to give their vote to McCain this coming November.
Of course McCain will hope that is the case. McCain wasted no time to get to the Clinton supporters that are adamantly against Obama.
“There are many of Sen. Clinton’s supporters who believe that I am by far the best qualified to secure this nation’s future, who don’t want us to sit down with Ahmaedinjad and other tyrants,” McCain said addressing the Clinton supporters.
There are a good portion of Clinton supporters that say they will vote for McCain. But, many say that the feelings are the result of the long and enduring race. Still, it is several months away until the general elections. So, anything can change.
However, it does not necessarily mean that McCain will get that voting bloc. Anything can happen from now until November.
