The crown jewel of Super Tuesday is being decided as we speak but it is still too close to call. According to Republicans, John McCain is up for a battle in the Golden State despite having Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in his pocket as well as Rudy Giuliani. But his difficult win in his home state of Arizona triggered doubts in the end of the evening.
As of 11:30pm ET, McCain was winning. In his late night speech, he declared himself "the frontrunner of the Republican party for the presidency of the United States." This comment ws based on the victories he obtained throughout the country.
"Thank you, Arizona, " he winked. Despite making his bold statement he was cautious. He also sent his rivals. Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee was received with a thunderous applause. While his congratulations to Mitt Romney were received with a tepid applause by his supporters.
