Meaning of life

Life is of no meaning really unless there will be life after life. Look at the hardest working creature on earth ants. They work non stop the whole of their lives and die leaving no contribution to this world. And look at the birds that live freely without the hardship of sowing or reaping. They die and turn into ashes just like ants. The beautiful lilies of the field too are here today and wither tomorrow.

What is the meaning of life? It may be a life where duty and responsibility have been diligently carried out like the tiny ant. It may be a life as free as a bird with funs and excitement. Or it may be a life full of contribution to the good of the society he lives in like fish and fowl that feed the world.

We may think of success as being a meaningful life.
• A success in education – we struggle hard to learn and learn and learn and we stop to learn the day we die as a well educated person.
• A success in being well known – we labor for being a professor, a Doctor, Times man of the year, or Nobel price award winner.
• A success of power – we punch and we push our career ladder to climb up to the top of the highest power position in the organization we work. We are like a bunch of worms fighting to step on top of others to the highest ground.
• A success of being wealthy – we work hard, take two or even three jobs, we do all sorts of things just to get money. We associate wealth to success and meaningful life.

A great philosopher once said,
“Meaningless! Meaningless! Totally meaningless, life is meaningless.
What does man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun?
Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.”

What are we doing here on this earth? What is the meaning in life? We are in our pilgrim to earth for a short while and soon, one may be very soon and one may be later, but sooner or later the journey will end. We will all be gone. Have not you heard of all those great names who said to have lived a very meaningful life.

Who are they? Where are they? Do you or do I know him? Does it really matter? Does it really meaningful?

Life will begin after life. And that makes life meaningful. What are we doing here in our lives? We are making a trip with a purpose to serve. One day we will return to where we came from for eternity. The meaning of life is, therefore, to live to serve HIM.
