Meet Russia’s premier spymaster Mikhail Fradkov

Russia’s premier spy master Mikhail Fradkov – the enigmatic Director of Russian Foreign Intelligence Agency (SVR).

His name is  Mikhail E. Fradkov.

He is the enigmatic Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation (Russian: Служба Внешней Разведки Sluzhba Vneshney Razvedki or SVR).

Unlike the notorious Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), the SVR is responsible for intelligence and espionage activities “outside the Russian Federation”, including those secretly operating inside the United States and Europe currently.

The SVR is specifically authorized, in addition to collecting foreign intelligence, to negotiate anti-terrorist cooperation and intelligence-sharing arrangements with foreign intelligence agencies and provides analysis and dissemination of intelligence to the Russian president in the form of a presidential “weekly” briefing report (not unlike the Presidential daily briefing report President Obama gets from the Director of National Intelligence and the CIA).

It is said that mystery and intrigue surround him where ever he goes and unlike the spokesperson for Dose Equise Beer he is without doubt “the most interesting man in the world” – at least to most western  intelligence agencies around the world, including the CIA and others who maintain “thick files” on him and his activities.

When he travels he is almost always accompanied by more than one heavily armed bodyguards.

These bodyguards are rumored to be experts in combat tactics – who carry an assortment of exotic weaponry including specially designed military grade hand grenades to meet any enemy threat. In addition they are prepared to lay down their lives in defense of him – no questions asked.

He drives around in specially up-armored vehicles, rumored to be both bullet and bomb proof – on occasion he may employs body doubles to help confuse those who try and follow him.

He is know to report weekly to President Vladimir Putin (and select members of the Russian Duma) on the current situation in the world with an emphasis on all intelligence related matters affecting the national security of the Russian Federation.

He spends most of his time either at his private residence and in his private office at  SVR HQ in the Yasenevo District of Moscow.

His official biography at the SVR reads that “he was born on September 1, 1950 in the Kuibyshev region.”

Not much is known about his father or mother, except that they were humble people from humble beginnings.

He graduated from the Moscow Machine Tool Institute, Academy of Foreign Trade at the top of his respective class.

Since 1973, he worked extensively as the Economic Adviser to the Soviet Embassy in India.

At the end of trips abroad in 1975 (more than 15 years) he worked in senior positions in the USSR State Committee for Foreign Economic Relations (GKES) and the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations of the USSR.

Since 1991 – Senior Adviser to the Russian Federation’s permanent mission to the UN in Geneva.

From October 1992 – Deputy Minister, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Economic Relations of the Russian Federation. From April 1997 to March 1998 – the Minister.

In May 1999 he was appointed Minister of Trade.

From May 2000 – he was the Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council otherwise in charge of economic security.

In March 2001, he headed the Federal Tax Police Service.

In March 2003, he was appointed permanent representative of Russia to the European Union. March 5, 2004 approved by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.

By official presidential decree, dated  October 9, 2007 he was appointed as Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service.

He is a PhD that holds a diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.

He speaks fluently in both English and Spanish, besides Russian.

He is considered by many a linguistic expert in English and genuinely regarded as an exceptional  genius in matter pertaining to intelligence and national security. He plays chess, reads extensively on world matters.

He is currently married.

His wife’s name is Elena O.  she is an engineer-economist and is currently is not working. She is beloved by friends and family alike and is known for her Christian faith and charitable works within society.

He has two grown sons, both relatively successful in business within the Russian Federation.

According to a classified psychological profile – he is well adjusted, loves his wife dearly and is ferociously patriotic as well extremely dedicated to his job as Director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service.
