Mehbooba express grave concern over deteriorating situation in Kashmir Valley

Srinagar, April 17 (Scoop News) –Expressing grave concern over deteriorating situation in Kashmir Valley, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti said that on the one hand killing of innocent people at the hands of security forces have been going unabated while on the other hand crack downs and frisking are again back in the Valley to humiliate Kashmiries.

In a statement issued here today, Mehbooba Mufti said that “It seems that draconian measures are part and parcel of the present dispensation because this regime is more particular about adopting oppressive means to gag dissent voices rather than addressing grievances of the people.”

Strongly condemning cold blooded murder of a 70 year old resident of Lolab by the security forces, Mehbooba Mufti regretted that blood bath has going unabated in the Kashmir Valley because killing innocent people has become a policy matter of the National Conference led dispensation in the State.

 She said that brutal killing of 70 year old Habibullah, who was tagged as militant by the security forces, is another glaring example of the human right violation in the State and insensitivity of the ruling coalition.

“It is unfortunate that a 70 year old man was murdered by the security forces and later tagged him as militant”, she said and pointed out that postmortem report of the deceased man has confirmed that he was shot dead from point blank range. It is an unprecedented case in the Kashmir that such an old man was killed from a close range after dubbing him a militant. “This cold blooded murder speaks about the insensitivity of the government towards human lives and human values”, she said.

 Demanding action against those who were killed in this cold blooded murder, Mehbooba lamented that since formation of this regime killing of innocent people at the hands of security forces have been going unabated. She further warned such attitude of the government would be proved disastrous for the state.

“Frisking and crack down is against the dignity and honour of the common people”, she said and reminded that during the regime of previous government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed crack downs and frisking was stopped to restore dignity of common Kashmiri. She, however, said that it was unfortunate that present regime has once against started humiliating the common people in the name of checking.

Pointing towards killing of another teenager Zubair Ahmed, who was stoned to death by security forces, said that government has been especially targeting the teenager without any reasons. “On the one hand State Government has been claming that situation has improved while on the other hand security forces have been targeting innocent people especially the teengers’, she said and  youth fallen to the bullets of security forces during the current months were no way involved in any activity. She also mentioned the case of Zahid Farooq who was murdered by the security forces without any reason.
