Mehbooba expresses solidarity with ReT, NYC, educational volunteers

Srinagar, June 6  (Scoop News) –Expressing solidarity with various sections of the society that have been forced by the government to agitate for their rights and targeted through brute force Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said this government has lost all claims to any moral and constitutional authority. In a statement here today the party president Mehbooba Mufti said government has antagonized every class and category of the society by its misconduct , inefficiency and insensitivity.

Mehbooba said the National Youth Corps(NYC) that was established few years back has turned out to be the biggest fraud played on the youth of the state. She said very bright young men and women were recruited into the core with an understanding that they would be provided permanent jobs. Later their services were discontinued and it turned out that the promises had been made only to manage the anger caused by innocent killings in 2010.

Mehbooba instructed senior party leader and former minister Abdul Rehman Veeri, party chief spokesperson Naeem Akhtar and district president and MLA Mohammad Ashraf Mir  to visit the agitating youth of the NYC today. The agitating youth were subjected to ruthless atrocities on wednesday when they were holding peaceful demonstration in support of their demands. The leaders conveyed their support and solidarity to the youth. They were informed by the youngmen that last year they had called off their agitation on the assurance of the government conveyed by the present speaker of the legislative assembly Mr Mubarak Gull and then youth affairs minister Mr  R S Chib that their demands would be fulfilled. But that assurance has turned out to a blatant lie, the PDP leaders were told.

Referring to the problems faced by another large section of youth comprising the ReT and Educational volunteers Mehbooba said these highly educated youngmen and women have been exploited by the present government and their regularization is being delayed in one pretext or the other. A large group of ReT’s and educational volunteers held demonstration in Bandipora today. The MLA Bandipore Nizamudin Bhat , on the advise  of the party president joined the youth and conveyed party’s solidarity with them. Speaking to them Bhat said it is becoming increasingly apparent that the present government is neither willing nor capable to address any problem much less than those involving matters of employment. He told the youth that PDP would strive for their rights and when in a position to do so  would address their issues on priority.

Mehbooba condemned the use of force on different agitating groups which include the contractors who were subjected to brute force on Wednesday when they were demanding payment of their pending bills. Mehbooba said the government has incurred expenditure in thousands of crores beyond the approved budget on fake and non existing works while it is unable to make genuine payments to the contractors who have invested their hard earned money on the works they executed. She said the government instead of paying the people what it owes them is brazenly silencing them through repression and shamelessly putting them in jails. She said on the one hand the inefficiency of the government has resulted in a loss of Rs 2100 crores out of plan funds last year and on the other hand it is unable to pay the contractors and suppliers reportedly to the tune of Rs= 1000 crores only in Kashmir division.
