Mehbooba for rescue operation on war footing

 

Srinagar, March 20 (Scoop News) – Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti today demanded adequate compensation for those whose property has been damaged in the nightlong windstorm in the Valley in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

Expressing her concern over loss of huge property in the Valley due to windstorm, PDP chief asked the government to start the rescue and relief operation on war footing because normal life has been thrown out of gear due to the storm.

She said that storm blew away hundreds of rooftops, uprooted number of trees and threw power supply system haywire. She said that people have been facing hardship due to disruption of power supply and there was a need to restore power supply as early as possible.

Demanding adequate compensation for the affected families, Mehbooba Mufti asked the authorities to immediately assess the losses and give compensation to the affected people. She further demanded that team of officers should be deputed in all the affected areas to supervise the relief and rescue operations. She cautioned the government against adopting causal approach while dealing with the situation emerged due to windstorm.
