<p>A member of parliament coming from Central Malawi was on Friday slapped with a three months sentence for wounding a journalist working for Daily Times.</p>

<p>The MP had gone to the journalists’s office after the journalist ,Dickson Kashoti ,wrote a story saying the Mp was seen at the Police station to see his brother who had killed his wife.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The Mp was then frustrated and beat the journalist several times resulting into injury.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Passing the sentence Magistrate Mzondi Mvula said Members of Parliament are supposed to be examplary and hence sentenced him to three months imprisonment .</p>
<p> </p>
<p>However, because the MP is a chairman of the Public Appointments Committee, he suspended it for three months.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>It is not known whether he will maintain his seat or not. </p>
