Metal Services Celebrates First EPBL Championship

Dammam, Saudi Arabia – Newcomer Metal Services Company bagged their championship trophy in the Inter-company Division C of the Eastern Province Basketball League Second Conference General Machinery Agencies Cup at the Ettifaq Club Gymnasium last Friday.

Metal Services coach Gil Asis beefed up his frontline by using rookie sensation Rodante Luete to keep their title hopes alive and come up with a 99-71 upset of the highly favored Al Bilad Firefighting Company.
 
General Machinery Agencies, established in Saudi Arabia in 1957, is a provider of first class truck heavy machinery equipment used mainly in mining and construction  and a maintains the largest spare parts inventory in the Kingdom is the major sponsor of EPBL 2nd Conference supported by Al Falak System Solution, Al Majdouie Group, Phuket Restaurant, Hoshan Office Automation and Cecile’s Catering with the cooperation of Mc Donalds, Orbit and The Filipino Channel.

Anchored by the tandem of Luete, Renato Salonga and Jun Lata, the Metal Services made a decisive 14-4 run to extend their lead to 28 points (64-36) in the third quarter. Luete exploded with a season best 32 points while Lata and Salonga scored 17 and 10 points, respectively.
 
Ace guard Darille Tidalgo was the most conspicuous player for Al-Bilad Firefighters and center Randy Cabiso their most consistent scorer. Tidalgo and Cabiso scored 27 and 16 points, respectively.
 
Mythical five members are Rodante Luete,  Renato Salonga, Jun Lata of Metal Services and Darille Tidalgo and Randy Cabiso from Al Bilad. Luete was named Most Valuable Player (MVP).
