Police have identified 36 year-old Michael Fuccile as the man who was attacked and killed at Jersey City’s Liberty State Park light rail station this morning. They have 24 year-old Elgin Lewis Taylor Jr. in custody as the suspect of the murder.
Witnesses say that Elgin Taylor approached Michael Fuccile as he waited at the station at around 8:30 a.m. this morning. He was heading into Manhattan where he worked for Merrill Lynch. Suddenly, Taylor began stabbing Fuccile in the neck, causing a great loss of blood and eventually killing him. Witnesses followed Taylor and aided police in identifying the perpetrator of the stabbing.
Michael Fuccile is a father of three and was a well respected colleague at Merrill Lynch. Police believe that this was a random act of violence considering that Elgin Taylor’s family identified him as mentally ill. Charges against Taylor are still pending.
