Michael Roseboro, 41, of Reinholds, Pennsylvania was charged with beating his wife, Jan Roseboro, and drowning her in their swimming pool on July 22, 2008. He was arrested this weekend thanks to evidence provided by his lover, Angela Funk.
The night of July 22, Michael Roseboro planned to tell his wife he was leaving her for his lover Angela Funk. What happened instead, prosecutors say, is that Roseboro beat and strangled Jan Roseboro and then threw her into the pool in the back of the family house while their three children slept inside the house.
Prosecutors did not have a reason to believe Michael Roseboro would kill his wife until Angela Funk came forward as Roseboro’s lover. She provided police with numerous emails in which Roseboro confessed his love to her and his desire to marry her and the plan to end his marriage on July 22.
A neighbor also saw suspicious activity at the Roseboro house on the night of the murder. The lights around the swimming pool are always on between dusk and dawn, the neighbor said, but on the night of the murder, she noticed a period around 10 p.m. when they were off. Police believe that Michael Roseboro threw his wife in the pool and cleaned up blood around the pool area during this time.
Michael Roseboro is currently being held in Lancaster County Prison without bail. Angela Funk will most likely be called to the witness stand during Roseboro’s trial.
