Peshawar: An armed man on Wednesday morning opened fire on a militant leader and chief of his own Taliban-like extremist group ‘Amar Bil Maroof w Nahi Anel Munkar’ (Promotion of virtue and prevention of vice) in his madrassa and killed him on the spot.
Sources from the madrassa said that Haji Namdar was presiding over a meeting of his loyalists while an armed man from the meeting stood and opened fire.
The attacked has been arrested by the group but it is unclear who he was and why he killed the militant leader.
It is worth mention here that Haji Namdar had survived a suicide attack on May 01, 2008, which had killed the attacker and wounded 30 of the group’s members.
It was then believed that the suicide attack was carried by Tahrek Taliban Pakistan because Haji Namdar was opposing their activities.
Meanwhile, at least 10 people have been killed in a rocket attack in South Waziristan tribal agency. The rocket is fired from unknown location.
