The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Thursday revealed that militants joining the various outfits in Jammu and Kashmir, are being recruited on the payroll and the top commanders operating from various districts, earn the maximum with the initial start of Rs 50,000 per month.
”Militants are being heavily paid by the agencies for operating and after being recruited in various outfits while they are being lured with money and provoked for actively participating in insurgency operations and terrorist activities,” M K Sharma, Zonal Director, NCB, Jammu and Kashmir said at an interaction session organised by the Department of Continuing and Adult Education on the topic ”Narco-terrorism: Concern and Challenge in J&K” at Jammu University (JU) here Thursday morning.
Disclosing about the funds paid to the militants in Jammu and Kashmir, Sharma said the upfront money, which is given at the time of recruitment is up to Rs 50,000 for a foreigner militant (including Pakistani) and Rs 25,000 for the Kashmiris.
”According to the various intelligence inputs and security agencies, a foreigner is paid Rs 10,000 whereas a Kashmir based militant gets Rs 8,000 per month while at the end of the tenure payment (completion of job assigned), the foreign originated gets Rs 2 lakh to 2.5 lakh while Kashmiri militant is paid Rs 1 lakh to 1.5 lakh,” asserted Sharma.
The NCB zonal director also revealed that for spectacular act, (besides assigned task), the outfits are paying Rs 1 to 2 lakh in both the categories while the top commanders operating in different districts and zones, are getting Rs 50,000 monthly in both the cases.
”The amount is being delivered to the family members of the operating militant, who has been assigned task by the agencies to carry out certain insurgency operations in the state,” Sharma added.
