CHITRAL: Medicines in huge quantity were gutted at district headquarters hospital Chitral worth million of rupees. According to detail government supply medicines million of rupees to different hospitals for issuing to indoor admit patients under treatment at hospital. But unfortunately some corrupt staff not issues these medicines to poor patients and thy purchase life saving drugs from market. These government medicines with a label of not for sale often selling in black market. But in present case the staff not issue this precious medicines to patients and due to lying for long time in store it was expired. Perhaps they waiting for suitable opportunity to sell it out but could not do such. These expired medicines were burnt in hospital premises adjacent to judicial complex. Due to its bad smell the learned Judges were also disturbed in the courts who inquired about the smell and they were informed that hospital staff is burning expired medicines.
One hand the hospital staff not issue medicines to indoor patients and burning them on expiry while on the other hand a number of patients complained that they are not issuing any free medicine from hospital and they buying it from open market. President of paramedical association Khurshid Ahmad said that this is totally injustices and cruelty that medicines were not issued to patients although the government purchases it to be issued to admit patients under treatment at hospital and burnt it on its expiry. He said that it should to be returned to its concerned company for refunding or to be dispose off with a proper and safe way. In this connection when medical superintendent of DHQ Hospital Dr. Noor Islam was contacted to know his version he along with District Health Officer Dr. Nazir Ahmad was on his way to Peshawar to attend an official meeting. Hence he said that he had already taken action and the medicines were burnt just after his departure to Peshawar. He said that he has suspended store keeper Ghulam Rabbani.
Social and political circle of Chitral expressed great concerned over the negative behavior of hospital staff that they not issuing these medicines to indoor (admit) patients which already purchased by government for these patients and after expiring of the medicines the staff gutted with a very hazardous and unsafe way.
