Srinagar, February 06 (Scoop News) – J&K Minister for Social Welfare Ms. Sakina Itoo has said that various welfare schemes have been formulated to uplift the economic conditions of the womenfolk of the state.
The Minister was addressing largely public meetings at Baramulla and Bandipora here today. She asked the Anganwari Workers to monitor the supply of nutrition to the children and expecting women through various Anganwari Centre’s.
The Social Welfare department had organized the function for distribution of cheques worth Rs 43 Lakh as minority scholarship and Rs 5 Lakh to 50 deserving’s under NFBS through ICDS Narwar, Baramulla. In addition, Ms Itoo also distributed appointment letters among 25 Anganwari Workers connected with ICDS project Narwar.
She said that Govt. intends to set up moving Anganwari Centre’s particularly for Gujjar and Bakerwal community and said that 70 thousand pending such cases have been taken up with the central government.
The Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Director Social Welfare Hilal Ahmad Parray and other officers were present at the function. Ms Sakina Itoo said an amount of Rs 10 crore has been earmarked for the welfare of the womenfolk so that they could set up their own income generating units. She said 534 rural works are under execution at a cost of Rs 8 crore in district Bandipora.
