It was Hindi-Chini Bhai Bhai situation in Legislative Council (LC) today. Minister for Social welfare Sakina Itoo could not stop herself and stood up for the help of Minister for Health and Horticulture Sham Lal Sharma who got furious over a members irrelevant indulgence to a question asked by MLC, B. R Kundal regarding rotten fruit and vegetables.
Mercury in atmosphere got up when Sharma complained to Deputy Chairman that MLC Rashid Qureshi was deliberately involving in every question and has remarked minister as illiterate. In a bid to increase pressure over the member Sakina alleged that members are making mockery of the house. She said that the member is unnecessarily indulging in questions asked other members. She urged that a member should be concerned of the question asked by him particularly.
Qureshi stood up and clarified that he had not passed any remark against minister. On this, Deputy Chairman, Arminder Singh Micky instructed Secretary Council to delete unparliamentarily words used if any during the discussion. In total seven questions were asked and all the questions along with supplementary questions were answered satisfactorily. Two calling attention motions were also presented in the House.
During zero hour, MLC, Rafeeq Shah condemned brutality by police over government employees and physiotherapists’. He said that brutality of such a level was not witnessed in Lebanon, Egypt and Israel crisis. He expressed serious concern over atmosphere of uncertainty across the Jammu.
Earlier, Rafeeq Shah and Nizamu-Din Khatana staged walk out over unsatisfactory answer by Minister of Social Welfare who was replying on behalf of Minister of Housing and Urban Development. As question was about the rehabilitation of nomad Gujjar tribe. Other members also participated in the discussion.
