Minnesota Vikings name Matt Cassel their starting quarterback

Eden Prairie Minnesota. First year head coach of the Minnesota Vikings Mike Zimmer on Monday named as his starting quarterback of his football team 32 year old Matt Cassel.

Cassel has ten years of experience playing in the National Football League. Cassel beat out Christian Ponder who is fourth season in the league and rookie Teddy Bridgewater for the starting quarterback position during training camp.

Cassell gives the Vikings the best chance to win football games this season. Teddy Bridgewater will be the backup quarterback to Cassel. Ponder will be the third quarterback on the Vikings depth chart during the 2014 regular football season.

Cassel has played professional football with the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs since was drafted by the Patriots in the 2005 National Football League Draft in the seventh round out of the University of Southern California. Cassel signed a two year, $10 million during the off season in 2014.

Bridgewater is being groomed to be the quarterback of the future of the Vikings. It makes sense for Zimmer to start a veteran quarterback like Cassel since he has paid his dues in the National Football League in 2014.

The only way that Bridgewater will be the quarterback of the Vikings this football season will be if Cassel is injured during a football game or a football game that the Vikings are either winning or losing by a large margin that would require Cassel to leave the game.

Cassel has gained the confidence of his teammates to lead the team this football season.
