Minor Quake in Western Nepal

4.1 Richter Scale earthquake was recorded in western Nepal at noon on Monday. According to National Seismological Centre, Department of Mines and Geology, Lainchour the epicenter was around Lahachour in Kaski district.

The earthquake, however, did not appear in USGS Recent Earthquake list.

Meanwhile, National Earthquake Safety Day was marked across the nation on Jan 16. GeoHazards International, a nonprofit research group in 2001 had predicted that around 70,000 people would die if a 6.0 magnitude quake strikes Kathmandu city. In its research Nepal ranked first in the list of world cities most vulnerable to Earthquakes. The fact also appeared in a recent article in Forbes Magazine.
