Minorities in Ladakh feeling insecure: BJP

Jammu, November 07 (Scoop News) – It is indeed unfortunate that the Ladakh region has been subjected to discrimination. The Buddhist minority there  is feeling insecure. This was alleged by BJP National Executive Member & former State President Dr. Nirmal Singh while addressing a series of party meetings in different areas of  Leh district.

Dr. Nirmal Singh  alongwith party MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma is on 4-day tour of Ladakh region to further strengthen the party keeping in view party’s forthcoming organisational set up.

Addressing a series of meetings,  Dr. Nirmal Singh said that the recent incident of conversion in Zanskar has sent a wave of terror and insecurity among the Buddhist minority population in Ladakh and administration is looking at it as mute spectator, which itself speaks of the endorsement of such an act by the government. Similar situation has been witnessed in Doda in the past, where the administration totally sided with the majority community.  He said that the BJP has been agitating for the equal treatment to all the three regions of the state and preservation of centuries old culture and disntinct religious identites. The party has been also reaching the masses to expose the coalition government of centre and in the state besides mobilising public support for 2014 polls of assembly and Council in Ladakh.

Jugal Kishore Sharma in these meetings,  said that there is massive anger and resentment among the people in whole of Ladakh region as well because of the anti-people, anti-Ladakh and anti-minority policies of the successive governments of the Congress at centre and Congress’ coalitions in J&K. Bringing down the number of subsidized  quota of subsidised LPG cylinder to  just six can not serve the need of the people of this cold desert region as they do not have any alternate means of fuel which is most imporant for survival particularly during winter months.

Besides Former MP & BJP senior leader Thumpstan Chhewang, Ex-Chief Executive Councillor Tsering Dorjey and Leh District President Dr. Sonam Dawa, BJP leaders from Khalsi, Denchok, Nobra, Nioma and other far flung areas of Leh also held one to one meetings with visiting BJP leaders,  wherein various modes were discussed to induce new strength into the partyfold.
