Indian born internationally acclaimed film maker ‘Mira Nair’has been honoured with the ‘Person of the Year 2007,Award’by the leading ethnic newspaper in recognition of her work.
Mira Nair’s famous and successful movies include Salaam Bombay, Monsoon Wedding and the Namesake.
The Oscar nominated director Mira Nair was conferred with the award by the PepsiCo CEO, Indra Nooyi, sponsored by the newspaper by the India abroad .It is relevant to note that Indra Nooyi herself was the recipient of the award in the previous year.The award was conferred at a gala dinner attended by a large number of community leaders at the Gotham Hall in the New York City.
Ms.Nooyi while conferring the award to Mira Nair, commended her contribution to cinema and the community besides capturing the popular imagination and excellence.
5o year old Mira Nair in her acceptance speech paid rich tributes to her mother and to all those women who had been a source of inspiration to her.
