Srinagar, December 26, (Scoop News)-Terming the life of Prophet Muhammad (PUHS) as an open book to be followed in letter and spirit by the Muslims and the people world over, APHC leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, said that all the problems faced by Muslims including the problems at social, political and religious level were due to Muslims distancing themselves from the teachings of Islam and Prophet.
While addressing a gathering at the shrine of great spiritual and Islamic personality, Hazrat Khwaja Bahaudin Naqshband (RA) on his annual Urs before Nimaz-e-Asr commenly known in Kashmir as ‘Khwaja Digar’, Mirwaiz paid rich tributes to the Islamic scholar.
Describing him as an embodiment of knowledge and spiritual excellence, Mirwaiz said the sufi saint was a great social reformer and had spread the word of Islam to his disciples in its true spirit.
Deploring the social ills surfacing in the society, Mirwaiz said on the land of Sufi saints,materialism, greed, selfishness, immorality and social problems in Kashmir have spread in a manner as has never happened in the past during 5000 year old history of Kashmir.
In this context, he said dispersion of the message of Sufis and Saints would help in eradicating ills in the society to a large extent.
Expressing serious concern over the tearing apart of the fabric of society and violence against woman, Mirwaiz said that it was the religion of Islam which has empowered the women by giving her rights besides stressing upon the society to give dignity and protection to her.
Demanding severe punishment for the accused who are involved for throwing acid on a girl studying in a Law college the capital city, Mirwaiz said that such crimes were on a rise in Kashmir.
He said exemplary punishment should be given to the culprits involved in the crime so that social ills are rooted out from the society.
APHC leader said there was a need to start a social reform mission in the society, adding,every individual should play his part in such a mission so that a healthy society is carved out for future generations.
Referring to Kashmir, Mirwaiz said the so called elections and government formations can never be substitute to right to self determination.
He said that election drama was being held since 1947 in Kashmir and as such it has never changed the status of Kashmir issue.
