Mirwaiz says ongoing “election drama” in Kashmir cannot be substitute to right to self government

APHC leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq

Srinagar,December 13, (Scoop News)-APHC leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, was not allowed to offer his weekly sermon on Friday at historic Jamia Masjid.

State authorities once again resorted to highhandedness by restricting Mirwaz’s social, political and religious activities by confining him to his residence, a party spokesman said.

Decrying the arbitrary tactics adopted by the
authorities,APHC leader said by using force government can never break the resolve of separatist leadership.

He said by putting separatist leadership under house arrest or restricting their peaceful political activities would in no way dislodge the Hurriyat leadership from not pursuing their much cherished goal in life.

He further said “election drama” being staged in Kashmir could never be a substitute to right to self determination.

Stressing that central government should keep in view the historical realities associated with the Kashmir issue, Mirwaiz asked to initiate serious steps to solve the problem.

He said it was the only way that peace would arrive in the sub-continent and millions of people inhabiting this part of the planet would be extricated from an instable political and security situation.

Meanwhile, the spokesman once again appealed people to observe complete shutdown in poll bound areas in the state on Sunday.
