Srinagar, December 10, (Scoop News)_On World Human Rights Day,APHC leader,Mirwaiz Umar Farooq,Wednesday said that the display of authoritarian tactics by the state authorities should serve as an eye opener for the international community and human rights organizations.
APHC leader was scheduled to address a seminar in Srinagar on the eve world human rights day on Wednesday and was prevented by the authorities to participate in the said event.
Condemning the government step of sabotaging the seminar and protesting the human rights violations in Kashmir committed by the state administration, Mirwaiz said that on this day, the world was observing this day to renew their pledge to protect the human rights, but the situation in Kashmir was contrary to that.
APHC leader said on one hand Indian state and state authorities were freely committing rights violations against the innocent people and on the other, they have put a ban on people to peacefully protest against the crimes committed by the state against them.
Following the scuttling of the seminar on World Human Rights day, a protest demonstration was held under the leadership of senior hurriyat leader Moulana Abbas Ansari.
Meanwhile,welcoming the recent statement of UN secretary General, Ban ki Moon, that the international body was ready to mediate between India and Pakistan to solve Kashmir dispute, APHC leader said that the Kashmir issue was lying on the UN agenda and several resolutions in that regard had been passed by the body.
Mirwaiz said that UN should act now and utilize its all resources to solve the Kashmir issue according to the aspirations of people.
He said the resolution should be found on urgent basis to end the era of insecurity and
instability in South Aisa and also end the misery and pain of the people.
