Jammu, October 06, (Scoop News)- Expressing grave concern over prevailing hostile situation on the International Border (IB) due to continues firing, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Vice President and candidate for Suchetgarh Assembly segment, S. Trilok Singh Bajwa lambasted State Government for not providing permanent alternative safe land to the families affected by the heavy shelling in the border areas. He said, as such, the heavy shelling/firing from across the border has forced them to live like nomads. Being, fed up with this kind of situation and now the people wanted a permanent solution to it.
In press note issued here today, Bajwa said that it was duty of the Centre and State Government to provide security and shelter to the border residents. “It is very unfortunate that nothing has been done to provide shelters to the border residents in case of shelling”, he said and expressed his serious concern over ever increasing plights of the border inhabitants, who have been facing hardship due to apathetic attitude of the authorities. “Government should immediately provide ration, relief and free medical facilities”, he demanded.
Bajwa said that taking into account the frequent incidents of heavy shelling/firing from across the border which resulted in causing tension amongst the people living in the border villages of the Jammu province, the Union and State Govt. was urged to immediately take Final decision for allotment of 5 Marlas plots and financial assistance for the shelter at some safer places to the people living on the border as promised and proper arrangements for shifting the people of the border villages who have still not being taken to the safer places be ensured.
Bhushan Dogra, candidate for RS Pura, said that miseries of border residents have been increasing with every passing day but the state government has been adopting casual approach towards solving this human problem. He regretted that even after passing of more than six decades nothing has been done to provide basic amenities to the people border residents.
Faqir Chand Bhagat, candidate for Bishnah demanded that the human lives, crops, cattle, houses should immediately be insured by the government and the injured should be suitably compensated. He further demanded that agricultural land of the farmers falling between zero line & fencing on the Indo Pak border where they are not able to produce the crops and the cases for the compensation of the land under occupation of our forces also be decided once for all.
