India successfully tested a home grown long range Agni III missile on Wednes day, giving the country the capabilities of delivering a nuclear warhead to tagets more than 3000 K.M. away , it was the third test and the second successful one of the Agni III missile, which can hit targets deep inside China.
India’s current crop of missiles has been largely intended to deter pakistan. The stubby two stage solid fuel missile Agni III iin contrast, is India’s largest range missile, reaching 3500 K.Ms putting China’s major cities well into range as well as targets deep in the Middle East. It can carry conventional / nuclear payload of 1.5 tonnes.
