A few good men indeed becomes one less man when convicted of rape and expelled from the Naval Academy. He is originally from Mississippi.
According to Fox40TV Patrick Edmond a 20 year old Jackson, Mississippi native was expelled from the Naval Academy after his conviction of raping his former classmate, who’s also his ex-girlfriend. According to the Clarion Ledger Edmond was sentenced Sept. 29, to six months in military prison. His family is sure he is innocent as Patrick Edmond is currently in the Navy brig in Chesapeake, Va., he has declined request to speak. The Republic reports that on Sept. 29, it took the seven-member panel 11 hours to find Edmond gulity of rape, sexual assault and lying to investigators.
"He has never gotten into trouble with the law or with anything else," said one of his sisters, Clayeisha Young, 23, of Jackson.
Vicci Smith, Edmond’s mother said he was shy around anyone outside of family until joining the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps at Jim Hill High School.
"It seemed like his instructors brought out the best in him. I was shocked at the way he transformed," she said. She said her son served as mentor, starting a youth ministry for children.
